Hi! I’m Annie, a birth and postnatal doula based in Hertford.
I’m passionate about supporting people through the transformational experience of becoming a parent.
My role is to care for you - helping you prepare for labour and early parenthood, advocating for your choices, and ensuring you feel informed, empowered, and supported every step of the way.
My approach is warm, compassionate, non-judgemental, and evidence-based. Whether you plan a home birth, hospital birth, or anything in between, I’ll help create a calm, respectful environment where you remain at the centre of every decision for you and your baby.
I offer a free 30-minute call - just a friendly chat to explore what you’re looking for and whether we’re a good fit. Just pop me a message via my contact page to book.
“An empowering birth experience is not necessarily about the type of labour a woman has.
It is about the woman’s sense of power and her ability to make decisions about what happens to her.”
Dr Rachel Reed
I’m Annemijn but call me Annie (she/her).
I’m originally from the Netherlands (hence the slightly hard to pronounce first name) but I’ve lived in the UK for over a decade.
When I’m not immersed in all things pregnancy and birth, I love spending time with my family, reading, swimming outdoors, going for long walks in nature and cooking delicious meals.
It’s in my nature to want to support and nurture others, which is why I chose to become a doula.

I have completed the 6-months Radical Full Spectrum Doula Training with the Original Birth Connection and am currently mentored by the incredible Alex Burner, founder of the OBC. I was drawn to her course as it is the most comprehensive doula training course in the UK. It teaches how to work in a trauma responsive way as well as supporting every person with the utmost awareness, respect, and care that honours their identity, story, and lived experience.
As part of this course, I have attended the following masterclasses:
Birth Physiology, Kemi Johnson
Advocacy and Cultural Safety Masterclass, Illiyin Morrison
Caesarean Birth Masterclass, Carolyn Holt
Tongue Tie Awareness Masterclass, Carmelle Gentle
Perinatal Trauma Masterclass, Hayley Coburn
I have also completed the Birthing Biomechanics course with Shellie Poulter. Birthing biomechanics is about understanding how the body and movement work together during pregnancy and labour. I can guide you to positions and movements that support your baby’s rotation and descent. Through gentle movement, balance, and relaxation, we create more space and ease in your body, working with your natural anatomy and instincts rather than against them.
